Bottom line

People have said stupid things. Like when Digital CEO Ken Olsen told the World Future Society in 1977, “There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in his home.”

What Ted Nugent recently said is light-years beyond stupid.

The rock star shamefully crossed a line by referring to President Obama as a “subhuman mongrel,” in an interview with the website Guns.com.

With all the legitimate avenues of criticism to take against Obama – his failed policies, his reckless spending, his lack of transparency – why choose to be so grossly offensive as to hurl a racially tinged epithet at the president?

Nugent apologized Friday, but such shoot-from-the-lip blather has no business being uttered in the first place.
