Environmental journalists recently gathered to discuss, in part, whether the media have been “under-reporting and downplaying the seriousness of the threats of global warming.”
Really? They’ve got to be kidding. What part of “Flat Earth Society” – the usual invective hurled at global warming skeptics – do they think we don’t understand?
They’ve predicted coastal destruction, bigger and more frequent hurricanes, zero polar ice by 2013 – and on and on and on.
To suggest the media have downplayed the global warming threat is laughable.
The truth is quite the opposite: It isn’t the Earth that’s becoming overheated so much as the rhetoric.
Besides, the truth is, global warming alarmists don’t want a debate. Environmental groups even wrote to the heads of news networks earlier this year to complain that global warming skeptics were being given too much deference.
Silencing dissent and doubt is no way to win an argument or win over converts.
We encourage man-made global warming
adherents to cool down their rhetoric, acknowledge the evidence to the contrary and simply go about refuting it.
Calmly, civilly, confidently and with facts.
Kind of like a scientist does.
