The president once appeared to threaten that the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government would be a “game changer.”
But as with many of this administration’s implied threats, it’s ringing hollow today, and his use of the colloquialism “game changer” apparently leaves him wiggle room to go wobbly. The Syrians haven’t crossed a line yet, according to the White House.
Apparently you have to watch every word this president uses. He also said last year that, “A red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized. That would change my calculus.” That begs the question: How much is a “whole bunch”? The administration now admits the Syrian regime has gassed its people twice. Not a “whole bunch” just yet.
We’re not urging U.S. intervention, just U.S. integrity. Either back up what you say or don’t say it.
