ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Jimmy P. Lewis (Godbee), 59, of Atlantic City, passed away peacefully April 10, 2012 after a courageous battle with heart disease. Jimmy was raised in Augusta, Georgia, where he attended and graduated Lucy C. Laney High School. He accepted Christ as his savior early in life at Moses Baptist Church in Augusta. After high school, he enlisted in the United Stated Marine Corp during the Vietnam era, where he served honorably with duty assignments stateside and overseas in the South Pacific, ending his military career with numerous awards and commendations. He was predeceased by: his brothers, Billy Godbee, George Godbee and Phillip Godbee. Jimmy was one of 8 children and was a beloved son, brother and father. He is survived by his mother, Annie E. Godbee; and brothers, Willie Ernest Godbee, Timothy Godbee (Shirley), and Cicero Godbee; sister, Jannie Godbee; children, Marlana and Raffael Lewis; niece, Montez Blackwell; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be 1PM, Friday, April 20, 2012, Peoples Funeral Home, 723 Walton Way, Augusta. Burial will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery, Augusta. www. greenidgefuneralhomes.com
