NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mr. James M. Shy, Sr., 57, of North Augusta, entered into rest suddenly on Sunday, October 30th, 2011. Born in Ft. Valley, GA, a son of the late James Carlton (J.C.) and Carolyn Anness Shy, he had been a resident of Indiana, before making North Augusta his home six years ago. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Mr. Shy was formerly at Maintenance Man with Wal-Mart and a Stocker with K-Mart. He enjoyed flea markets, the beach and cooking. In addition to his parents, family members include his beloved companion, Julie Jarrett; a son, James M. Shy, Jr., Statesboro; daughter, Melinda Hernandez Aguilar; step-children, Michelle Carranco, Lancaster, PA, Patricia Cruz, Graniteville, Jeffrey Mooney, Moultrie, Curtis Alan Smith, Indianapolis, IN, Alan Carl Ray Smith, Indianapolis, IN and Jennifer Rene Smith, Indianapolis, IN; three siblings, grandchildren, Tiffany Beck, Carl Ramer, Robert Carranco, Alexander Cruz, Cira Mooney, Andrea Cruz, Joseph Stocker, Tracy Stocker, Elijah James Smith and Jasmine Marie Smith, great-grandchildren, Katelyn McKenzie Hall, Karley Nichole Ramer and Alexander Miguel Cruz, Jr and the mother of his children, Julie Roberts Shy, Hazleton, PA. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, November 4th, 2011, at 2 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home, with Pastor Herb Sons officiating.
