AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Gary T. Bussey, Sr. entered into rest Monday, October 24, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1223 Laney Walker Boulevard, Augusta, GA 30901. Interment will be in Walker Memorial Park. The family will receive friends, (today) Friday, October 28, 2011 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, 1454 Florence Street, Augusta, GA 30901. Gary was born on August 4, 1950 in Augusta, Georgia. As a child he attended Second Shiloh Baptist Church and later became a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee. Gary was a proud member of the Class of 1968 at Lucy Craft Laney High School in Augusta, GA. In 1972, he received a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Political Science from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. Gary was a very devoted member of the Alumni Association of " the House), and presided over the local Augusta chapter. He inspired and mentored many young men in the Augusta area, as well as encouraged many of them to attend Morehouse College. Gary was a very proud member of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., where he held various leadership positions over the years. Gary also received a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Georgia, in Athens, Georgia in 1974. Gary most recently served as a Fatherhood Agent with the Georgia Department of Child Support Services, and had over 20 years of experience in management of Government Programs and a diverse knowledge of federal and state regulations governing family independence programs. He was preceded in death was his father, Henry Thomas Bussey, his grandmother, Beatrice Burns Moore, and his aunts, Helen Bussey Johnson, Ethel (Frank) Moore Cade, and Evelyn (Eugene) Moore Fuller. Survivors are: one son, Gary Thomas Moore Bussey II, a devoted mother, Earnestine Moore Williams, both of Augusta, Georgia; two sisters, Doreen Bussey of St. Louis, MO and Alesia (Freddie) Bussey of Augusta, GA; a loving aunt, Juanita B. Collier and uncle, James Johnson, Jr. of Augusta, GA; one nephew, Antron (Felicia) Freeman; two great nieces, Chayse and Payton Freeman of Atlanta, GA, and a special(s)and(s)devoted friend, Ronnie Brown of Augusta, GA; also a host of relatives, friends and colleagues that will cherish his memory.
