GIBSON, Ga. - Frank Wallace "Rat" Phillips, 61, loving husband of Betty Williams Usry Phillips, entered into rest Friday morning, October 14, 2011, at Georgia Health Sciences University. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, October 17, 2011 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Seaman officiating. Interment will follow in Waldens UMC Cemetery. Wallace loved to fix and make things run so it is befitting that he was a mechanic by trade but it was also his hobby. He especially liked working on tractors and old vehicles. He also loved working outdoors and at one time was a logger, another job that afforded him the pleasure of doing something he enjoyed. Wallace never met a stranger and always tried to make people laugh by providing some comedic relief. He was a loyal, generous friend who will be greatly missed. Wallace was also preceded in death by his siblings-Larry E. Phillips, Carolyn P. Sellars and Maxine P. Wheeler. His survivors include his two children, Lisa P. Cranford (Billy) and Eddie Phillips (Denise); five step-children, Deborah Randall, Brenda Thigpen (Wayne), Kathy Hawkins (Jamie), Barney Usry and Gary Usry (Phyllis); two grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. Pallbearers will be Terry Poole, Derrick Randall, Gary Usry, Phillip Wheeler, Roy Wheeler and Tony Wheeler. The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00PM this evening, Sunday, October 16, 2011. James Funeral Home - Wrens, GA
