LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mr. Claude Simpson Prather, 89 of 1398 Metasville Rd. entered into rest on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Wills Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2011 at Hephzibah Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Danner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be William Wellmaker, Jr., Richard Wellmaker, Stephen Wellmaker, Caleb Wellmaker, Lee Barden, Scott Dekreon, John Thurmond, Wayne DeMuse and Emory Ware. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the men of Hephzibah Baptist Church. Mr. Prather was retired as an electrician with Inland Steel Company. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving his country during World War II and was a receipt of the Purple Heart. Mr. Prather was a faithful member of Hephzibah Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Bill Wellmaker, Sr,. and wife, Beth of Atlanta; three brothers, Billy Prather and wife, Kirby of Sumter, S.C., Bobby Prather of New Orleans, LA. and Hank Prather and wife, Mary of Milwaukee WI.; three grandsons, Bill Wellmaker, Jr., Richard Wellmaker and Stephen Wellmaker and wife Angie; two great grandchildren, Willam Caleb Wellmaker and Victoria Mechelle Wellmaker. Mr. Prather was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lenora Martin Prather.
