AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Hosea Allen, Jr. of Royal Street, entered into rest Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Charlie Norwood VAMC-Downtown. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. from Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, 3666 Deans Bridge Road, Augusta, GA 30906. **The family will receive friends this evening at the funeral home from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Hosea Allen, Jr. or (Bro), as he was more affectionately known, was born October 19, 1937 to the late Hosea, Sr. and Maggie Allen in Augusta, GA. He attended and graduated from Immaculate Conception school in 1956. Following graduation, Hosea proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army where he received an honorable discharge. Hosea served for many years as a Steward at Rock of Ages CME Church. He was a dedicated employee of International Paper, Inc. until he retired. Hosea was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Hosea is survived by his four children, Mrs. Jedonia (Bobby) Lindsey, Mr. Sylvester Garnett, Ms. Karen Garnett and Mr. Ricky Mahone, all of Augusta, GA; three grandchildren, Mrs. Christiana (Reginald) Gilstrap, Covington, GA, Mr. Thearon Taylor and Mr. Brandon Lindsey both of Augusta, GA; two great grandchildren, Jada and Jordan Taylor of Augusta, GA; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Beard and Mrs. Mattie Williams of Augusta, GA; devoted nephew, Mr. Gregory Dickerson of Augusta, GA; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatvies and friends.
