MOUNT HOLLEY - Philip Edmund Lully, 72 entered into rest on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was born in New York City, NY to the late Edmond and Grace Lully. Philip was the beloved husband to Sandra Evans Lully for over fifty-four years. He graduated from Boys Catholic High School in Augusta, GA and joined the US Marine Corps and afterwards entered into the business world. He relocated to the Charlotte area in 1971, where he continued his career, opening his own business "Eagle Crane Company"in the year 2000. Philip played varsity basketball in high school, enjoyed tennis and golf. He was always known as "Pops". He coached various sports for years. When he lived in the Atlanta, GA area during their early married life, he and Sandra welcomed younger siblings into their home to continue their formal education. Family members, in addition to his wife, include children: Philip David Lully, who recently joined his father at Eagle Crane; Rene Lully Lawing, Timothy Lully, all of Belmont, NC and Andrew Lully and wife, Janet of Stanley, NC; Grandchildren: Shannon Contreras, Keelyn and Leah Lawing; Great-Grandchildren: Piper Woods, Zachary Contreras, and Talon Reynolds' Sisters: Sister Linda Marie Lully, csj of Augusta GA, Elizabeth Millard and husband, Kenneth of Waldeck, Canada, Grace White of Forence, AL, Brother: Edmund Lully and wife, Sandra of Spartanburg, SC; Nieces and Nephews: Jen and Nick Millard, Daniel White, Angie Warren, Christy Schools, Stephen Lully, David and Helen Evans, Charles and Joseph Walker, Tracy Carswell and Richard Davies; Great-Great Nephews and Niece: Josh Soots, Caleb Warren and Caroline and Samuel Schools. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00pm, Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont. A funeral Mass celebrating his life will be at 11:00am, Thursday, September 22, 2011 at The Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church with Father Joe Mulligan officiating.
