John Wesley Tillman ( AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Georgia Health Sciences University. Mr. John Wesley Tillman, Jr. of Lee Beard Way. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from Trinity Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 2930 Glenn Hills Drive, Reverend Dr. Jeffery Thomas, pastor~presiding, Reverend Jerry Poole, eulogist. The interment will be in Southview Cemetery. ***The family will receive friends at the church, Thursday at 12:00 noon until the hour of service. John Wesley Tillman, Jr. was the son of the late John Wesley Tillman, Sr. and Sarah Mance Tillman. He completed his primary education in Richmond County schools and his secondary education at Haines Normal and Industrial Institute (now known as Lucy C. Laney High School), where he lettered in football and track. John served in the United States Army and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. After an Honorable Discharge from the Army, he became a Locomotive Fireman Engineer for Georgia Railroad (currently CSX). John was married to the late Earlia B. Gresham Tillman. He was a lifelong, active member of Trinity CME Church. He is survived by his daughters, Dolores Tillman Duncan and Josalyn Y.
