AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. William Alvin Youngblood, 86, of Riveroak Drive, husband of the late Barbara Frances Denton Youngblood, entered into rest Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Westwood Extended Care. Funeral services will be held from the graveside in Hillcrest Memorial Park on Friday, today, at 10:30 A.M. with the Reverend Tim Carnes officiating. Mr. Youngblood, a native of Windsor, SC, had lived most of his life in the Augusta area. He was the son of the late Bessie Scott and Sam Ashley Youngblood. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during World War II where attained the rank of Youman 3rd Class. Mr. Youngblood retired as Chief of Procurement with Civil Service at Fort Gordon following 38 years. He was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church. In addition to his wife Mr. Youngblood was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Youngblood. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jackie Youngblood of Evans, GA; grandchildren, April and her husband Brian Grealish, Heather Youngblood, Chastity and her husband Jeremy Gregg and Joni Howe; as well as ten great grandchildren.
