GIBSON, Ga. - Mr. Harold B. West, 87, of Highway 171 N., entered into rest Wednesday July 6, 2011, at the V.A. Hospital, Downtown Div., Augusta, Ga. Graveside services will be held at 11:A.M. Saturday July 9, 2011, at the Edgehill Latter Day Saints Cemetery, Edgehill, Ga. with Bishop Mark Anderson, Officiating. Mr. West was a World War Two Veteran, Serving over Five Years in the U.S. Army 4th. Div. He was also in the Normandy Invasion in France, Earning three Purple Harts, a Bronze Star, and other Metals of Honor. He was a member of the V.F.W. He was a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Harlem Ward. He is Survived by his Loving Wife of 65 Years Mrs. Mary Williams West, a Son Terry West of Gibson, a Daughter Donna Knight of Warrenton, two Brothers Ted West of Augusta and Luke West of Gray, Tn., three sisters Ruth Fields of Johnson City Tn., Dorothy Dykes of Jonesboro, Tn., and Florence White of Nashville, Tn. Four Grandchildren Shawn(s)and(s)Shane West and Scott(s)and(s)Shelley Smith, two Great Grandchildren Katie(s)and(s)Alexis. He was preceded in Death by his Parents and a Son Keith West. Pallbearers are Ken Pullum, Gene Hockenbury, Bobby Snider, Thomas Chalker, Shane West, and Shawn West. There will be no Visitation but Friends may Visit the Funeral Home from 9-5 and at the Residence at any time. Sheppard Funeral Home, Gibson, Ga. is in Charge of arrangements.
