COLUMBUS, Ga. - Reverend Etha P. Pitts departed this life June 2, 2011 in Columbus, Georgia. She was the third child born to Dr. Lucius H. Pitts Sr. and Mrs. D.E. Pitts in Cordele, Georgia in 1951. She was educated in the public school systems of Atlanta, Georgia and Fairfield, Alabama. She graduated with honors from Paine College of Augusta, Ga. Upon receiving her B.S from Paine College where her father served as President, she enrolled in Phillips School of Theology, Atlanta, Georgia where She received her Masters of Divinity. She then began a ministry that carried her to many churches in the state of Georgia. She served as pastor in the C.M.E Church for over 25 years. For two years she was the director of the C.M.E mass choir at the annual convocation, and she was the director of the choir for the general conference of the C.M.E. church. In Atlanta Georgia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from Hosley Chapel C.M.E. Church, 709 8th Street, Columbus, Georgia. She is survived by her brothers, John E. Pitts, Lucius H. Pitts Jr. (Loraine); uncle, Retired Air Force Sergeant Albert Jasper; aunt, Mrs. Carolyn Pitts, nieces, Jackie Johnson, Tashana Oriel (Jonathan) and many cousins and friends.
