THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Lucy B. McCorkle, age 89, widow of Mr. James H. McCorkle, Wrightsboro Road, died Wednesday, May 4, in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, May 9, in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Dr. Leonard Dupree officiating. Mrs. McCorkle was a native of Warren County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She had attended Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was a retired Secretary and Bookkeeper for Dudley Nurseries. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. McCorkle, her grandson, Jason McCorkle, her sister, Mary Crane and three brothers, Reid Borders, James Dudley Borders, and Paul Borders. She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-laws, Sammy and Gayle McCorkle and Paul and Bonnie McCorkle, all of Thomson; a sister, Ethel Harris, Washington; two brothers, Jack Borders, Louisville and John Borders, Warrenton; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral Home.The family will receive friends after the services at the cemetery.
