WASHINGTON, D.C. - Mr. Earl Ralph Sturgis, 73, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 28, 2011 at his home in Washington, D.C. Funeral services will beheld at 1 p.m., May 7th at Pope Funeral Home Chapel, 2617 Pennsylvania Avenue, S.E. Washington, D.C. 20020. Mr. Sturgis was a graduate of Lucy Laney High School. At an early age, he was baptized at Beaulah Grove Baptist Church and he was a member also. Born Feb. 21, 1938, he was a son of the late Theodore and Lelia Sturgis Sr. He was married to the late Luedell Heath Sturgis. He is survived by 3 sons, Lindsey Sturgis, Timothy Sturgis, Antonio C. Sturgis; 1 daughter, Mrs. Francine S. Bryson (Ricardo), a loving mate, Mae Frances Johnson; 3 brothers, Theodore R. Sturgis Jr., Willie A. Sturgis, Sr. (Josephine),Cornelious Sturgis, Sr. (Dorothy); 3 sisters, Thelma Bryant and Idell S. Randall, all of Augusta, Ga. and Ola M. Marshall (Carlton) of California; 2 brother-in-laws, Richard Heath and Tony Heath, Sr.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Zinnia Sturgis; 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 1 stepson and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends..
