William (Bill) Hobbs (MARTINEZ, Ga.)

MARTINEZ, Ga. - William Butler (Bill) Hobbs, Jr., age 78, lost his long battle with cancer on April 25, 2011. He is survived by his wife on 32 years, Arlo-Ann Hobbs, daughters, Judy Dudley and Donna Kitchings (Steve), Aiken, S.C., Connie Hobbs, Augusta, GA, brother James Hobbs (Lannette) Augusta, GA., sister Martha Miles, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Four step children, Sheri, James, Robert and Jon Reinke all of Florida and four step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Butler Hobbs, Sr. and Louise Phillips Hobbs, sisters Helen Mitchell and Evelyn Tucker. An adventurous man, he retired from DuPont at 53 years of age to ride his bicycle from Montana to Alaska. Bill loved traveling and for 12 years he and his wife lived and traveled the USA and Canada in their motor home before settling down in Martinez. An avid bird watcher, he built and maintained several Bluebird boxes that he placed around his community.
