APPLING, Ga. - Samuel Wayne Hammett, 70, husband of the late Sarah Whitaker Hammett, entered into rest Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 22, 2011, at Johnson United Methodist Church with the Reverend David Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Wayne was born in Warren County to the late Samuel Hammett and Vera Cason Hammett. He was a retired Iron Worker and a member of Johnson United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working in his woodshop and building bird houses. Survivors include two sons, Thomas Hammett, Appling and Wayne Hammett, Jr., Warrenton; stepson James Joyner, Jr., Augusta; and stepdaughter Charlene Boatwright, Bath, SC; Six grandchildren and five great-grandchild.
