AUGUSTA, Ga. - Joseph (Joe) Goldberg, husband of Barbara Rubin Goldberg entered into rest on Monday April 19, 2011 at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday April 21, 2011 at Congregation Children of Israel -Walton Way Temple with Rabbi Robert G. Klensin officiating . Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers Dr. Louis Scharff, Dr. Morey Lipton, Dr. Lowell Greenbaum, Mr. Nikolas Goldberg, Mr. Matthew Goldberg and Mr. Martin Dolin. Mr. Goldberg was born in Waynesboro, GA; he later graduated from Emory University. After graduation from college, he served in the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated Goldberg's Furniture in Waynesboro until his retirement. Very active with several organizations , Past President of the Congregation Children of Israel , Past Chairman of the of the Federation of Jewish Charities , Past Chairman of Golden Harvest Food Bank, Vice President of Boys Scouts of America -Georgia Carolina and Past President of Rotary Club in Waynesboro. Survivors include his wife Barbara Rubin Goldberg; daughter Jamie Langley; sons and daughter in law Dr. William and Mrs. Mara Goldberg and Jonathan Goldberg; grandchildren Laura and Rachel Langley, Nikolas and Matthew Goldberg. He was preceded in death by his parents Hyman and Lillian Goldberg, sister Helen Shangold. For those wishing to make memorial contributions please consider Jud C.
