ATLANTA, Ga. - Charles King Howard Jr., 72, of Atlanta, died early Saturday, March 12th, at his cabin in North Carolina. He was born in Atlanta on December 21, 1938 to Charles K. and Mary M. Howard and had one brother, the late Matthew T. Howard, MD of Augusta. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Frances M. Howard; his daughter and grandson Elizabeth C. Howard and Joshua King Howard; his daughter and son-in-law Katherine Natasha and Daniel Bramlett; his niece, Corday Howard Borders and nephew, Matthew K. Howard, MD. Charlie earned his bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University and then went on to earn his law degree from Emory University in 1964. He served as a referee for the Fulton County Juvenile Court and worked for the U.S. Department of Justice - Civil Rights Division before returning to Atlanta in 1970 to enter private practice. He retired in 2006 and has since enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in North Carolina. He was always a loving husband and father, an avid outdoorsman, and a good friend to all.
