AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Anita Wren Rodgers Evans, 69, of Belmont Avenue, went to sleep peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at University Hospital. Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 1:00 pm in the Rowland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Cowart officiating. Interment will be private. Mrs. Evans was a lifelong resident of the Augusta/North Augusta area. She was formerly in management at the Green Jacket Restaurant and sales at Hillcrest Memorial Park. She was an avid gardener, loved fishing and was an adopted mother to many. Survivors include three sons, Wade E. Rodgers of Clarks Hill, SC, Tom E. Rodgers and his wife Cathie of Wichita, KS, and Joseph L. Rodgers of Augusta, GA; one daughter, Denece Woody and her husband Erin of Campbell Hall, NY; two sisters, Hellen Cosart and her husband Frank of Leland, FL, and Dianne Glaze and her husband James of St. Augustine, FL; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and her loving companion for 25 years, Jim Poe and his daughters Jessie(s)and(s)Amanda. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd., Augusta, GA 30909.
