ATHENS, Ga. - David H. MacIntyre, 94, died peacefully at his home in Athens GA. David was a long-time resident of Northern Virginia, and an esteemed foreign language teacher for 25 years in the Arlington Public Schools. He was an avid gardener, hiker, reader, and a life-long learner. Mr. MacIntyre served in the army in WWII. A beloved husband and father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy J. MacIntyre, and his daughter, Judy Carolyn MacIntyre. He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Susie Hirt and her husband, Ted Hirt, and daughter Debby Varlet, and daughter Jennie Cowan and her husband David Jones. As a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be missed by grandchildren and their spouses, Jean and Don, Frank and Brijanna, David, Justin and Priscila, Brendan, Heather, and Robert, as well as great-grandhchildren Aurelia, Chloe and Phoenix.
