WARRENTON, Ga. - Mrs. Sara Garthwright Ray, age 87, of Davis Street Warrenton died Wednesday December 29, 2010 at the McDuffie Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday January 3, 2011 at Johnson Cemetery with the Rev. David Jenkins officiating. Mrs. Ray a Warren County resident for many years was a Retired Metallurgist for Handy and Harmen in El Monte, CA. She was a member of the Warrenton Garden Club, Warren County Historical Society, and a Daughter of the Confederacy and a entrical part of National Wildlife Association at Lake Havasu and enjoyed world travel. Mrs. Ray attended Johnson United Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Carmen (Benny Robair) Bender, Carol (Lenny) Scrima, and Evelyn (Michael) Rose, seven grandchildren, Jessica Bender, Jenny Bender, Lenny Scrima, Lynnette Scrima, Jesse Rose, Tim Rose, and Kelley Rose, two great grandchildren. Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her parents, James Carlton and Rosalie Ricketson Garthwright and a brother and sister in law, James and Frances Garthwright. The family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00 P. M. Sunday evening at the funeral home and Monday following the funeral service at the residence.
