HARLEM, Ga. - Jacob Carlyle Davis, 24, was formally introduced to his Savior Jesus on December 28, 2010 at 4:17 p.m. He was an active member of the Journey Community Church of Evans, GA. He was a leader in the youth, children's, drama, and video ministries of the church. He was a senior Occupational Therapist student at Augusta Technical College. Second to His love of Jesus was his love of his mother, Polly Renew Davis, and sister, Miranda Davis Scott, brother-in-law Victor Scott and two nieces Eliana Grace and Addison Laine and his extended family of his "brother" Kirk Buffington and his love Sharon Newsome. Additional survivors include his maternal grandparents the Rev. Eddie L. Renew and Jeannine Renew; paternal grandmother Lula T. Davis; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends to numerous to name. He was preceded in death by his father Charles H. "Chuck" Davis and paternal grandfather J.C. Davis. Jacob had just joined the Masonic Lodge #276 in Harlem, achieving his Master Mason's degree in July of this year. Jacob had been elected to the chaplaincy of the Masonic Lodge. He was the youngest person to be granted such a privilege. He had also been initiated into the Thomson Shrine Club this past November. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and friendship. He touched more lives than many will ever meet. Jacob will truly be missed, and he is still making his friends and family laugh. Services will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Journey Community Church, Evans, GA, at 2 p.m. The Reverends Bobby Smith, Steve White and Victor Scott will be officiating. Internment will follow at the Harlem Memorial Cemetery, Harlem, GA, with full Masonic rights accorded. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Journey Community Church on 4798 Hardy McManus Road, Evans, Georgia.
