Lydia B. Pool (WRIGHTSVILLE, Ga.)

WRIGHTSVILLE, Ga. - Mrs. Lydia Bray Pool, age 81, of Wrightsville, died December 5, 2010 at the Washington County Extended Care Facility. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 9th at 3:00pm at the Beulah Baptist Church in Johnson County. Elder Brant Kennedy, Rev. Bill Brown and Elder Kenneth Brantley will officiate. Mrs. Pool was born in Johnson County the daughter of the late C. Ostelle Bray and the late Louise Young Bray. Mrs. Pool was retired from the Washington County Board of Education after 31 years of service as an educator. She obtained her Bachelors and Masters of Education from Georgia College and her Doctorate in Reading Education and Supervision from the University of Georgia. She was a publisher of professional articles as well as genealogies and was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority where the Dr. Lydia Pool Scholarship was named in her honor. Mrs. Pool was a faithful member of the Beulah Baptist Church where she was the former adult Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. She was a member of the Jared Irwin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Pool is predeceased by her husband Beverly Pool Sr. and her son Beverly Pool Jr. Survivors are; her daughter, Anne Pool of Harrison, her daughter-in-law Linda Pool of Wrightsville, grandchildren, James Rocky Tanner (Amy) of Harrison, Nathan Pool (Marcee) of Wrightsville, Matthew Tanner (Hillary) of Bishop, Caleb Pool (Lynn), Ashley Gheesling (Chuck), Jacob Pool all of Wrightsville, Lacey Anderson of Milledgeville, and Colby Mathis (Ashley) of Harrison, and great grandchildren, Tripp Tanner, Elizabeth Tanner, Tanner Gheesling, Kyla Anderson, Logan Anderson, Carliegh Sayler, Genna Lee Pool, Isaac Pool, Emma Louise Pool, Caige Pool, Colson Tanner, Justin Tanner and Peyton Mathis, and her sister Ruth B. Brown (William) of Statesboro. The family will be at the Pool residence 577 Bill Oliver Rd in Wrightsville and will receive friends Thursday from 2:00pm until the hour of service in the Social Hall of Beulah Baptist Church.
