AUGUSTA, Ga. - Thomas Franklin Barton ,77 ,died Friday, November 26, 2010 at Lake Crossing Healthcare in Appling, Georgia. His death ended a long struggle with heart disease and began a reunion with his beloved wife, Dorothy Chance Barton. Funeral service were held Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. from Green Fork Baptist Church with Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Barton will lie in state at the church from 2:00 PM unitl the hour of the service. Thomas was born on March 22, 1933 to the late William Harvey Barton and the late Nellie Wiggins Barton Gay. He lived in Perkins, Georgia for much of his life , later moving to Augusta, Georgia with Dorothy. Thomas was a member of Green Fork Baptist Church and a skilled carpenter who had enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest love, however, was his Dorothy and his family. He is survived by his three daughters, Carolyn Lariscy of Perkins, Ga., Barbara (Johnny) Wells, of Midville, Ga., Frankie (Robert) May of North Augusta, SC, three sons, Robert E. (Martha) Jackson, of Statesboro, Ga., Tommy Jackson of Augusta, Ga.William H. Barton of Knoxville, TN, grandchildren: Donna (Charlton) Carswell, Dr. David Lariscy, Dee Newton, Tony Lariscy,Angie Jackson, Tommy Jackson, Jr., Alicia (Charles) Turner, Steven (Cheri) Jackson, Michelle Jackson, Tiffany (Michael)Rollins, Christopher(Joanna) Herndon, Elaina Jackson and Ashley Jackson. Great-grandchildren are Jessika, Taylor, Caroline, Alex, Elizabeth, Austin, Lukas, Samantha, Andrew and Deveon. Great-great-grandchildren are Laylee and Wes. Thomas is preceded in death by his dearly loved wife Dorothy, his parents: William and Nellie, his grandson: Wayne Herndon, Jr., his sisters: Nellie Flakes, Pauline Bell and Lena McGlohorn. The family would like to thank the staff at Lake Crossing Healthcare, particularly Naomi, for their loving care of Daddy. Also, We thank the staff at Trinity Hospice for their love, support, and care, particularly Fredda, Michael, Wayne, Sandra & Dee. Pallbearers will be David Lariscy, Dwayne Newton, Steven Jackson, JohnWells, Christopher Herndon, Robert May and Michael Rollins. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Hospice St. Joseph Foundation P.O. Box 31358 Augusta, Georgia 30903. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
