GLOVERVILLE, S.C. - Mr. James E. 'Ed' Whittle, Sr., 90, of Gloverville, SC, beloved husband of 65 years to Frances Gray Whittle and son of the late Jacob Emanuel and Annie Randall Whittle, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 18th, 2010. Born in Graniteville, SC and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, he retired from Georgia Railroad. A veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Warrenville First Baptist Church, Warrenville, SC, where he served as a member of the Brotherhood, a deacon and was a Sunday school teacher. Mr. Whittle had been a Mason for over fifty years and was a member of Horse Ceek Masonic Lodge, #174, Langley, SC and was also a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed his faith, family and fishing. In addition to his loving and devoted wife , family members include children, James E. Whittle, Jr., (Amanda) , Julie Whittle Kelly, and Janet Whittle ; sister, Louise Whittle Polatty, brother-in-law, Freddie Gray (Demetria), sister-in- law, Irma Renew, grandchildren, Trey Kelly (Danielle) ,Courtney Fitzgerald (Ryan), Nathan Whittle, Aaron Whittle and Sarah Whittle great-grandsons, David, Jonathan and Jacob Kelly and many nieces, nephews and special friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 20th, 2010, at 1 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Rev. Arthur Zawislak, Rev. J.B. Redd, and Pastor Trey Kelly officiating. Interment with veteran's honors accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard and masonic rites accorded by Horse Creek Masonic Lodge will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC. Rev. J.B. Redd will officate. Pallbearers will be members of Horse Creek Masonic Lodge. Honorary pallbearers will be John Parnham, Wayne Durden, Dane Haltiwanger as well as Deacons of Warrenville First Baptist Church. Those wishing to memorialize Mr. Whittle are encouraged to contribute to the John W.
