AUGUSTA, Ga. - Deacon Earnest Briggs of Chafee Avenue entered into rest on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at University Hospital. Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 1:p.m. at Good Samaritan Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Robert W. Turner, Jr., officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Garden. He was a native of Augusta, Georgia; a 1973 graduate of Lucy Laney High School; a retired employee of Graniteville Company for almost 35 years as a Supervisor and a member and Deacon of the Good Samaritan Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Janie Briggs; one daughter, Sheri Briggs, Augusta; two sisters, Patricia (Floyd) Blount, Sharon (Carl) Tyrell, Augusta; three brothers, Deacon Joseph (Pearl) Cummings, Robert (Jacqueline) Briggs, Deacon Leon (Beverly) Briggs, Augusta; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
