WARRENTON, Ga. - Mr. George Maner Holliman, age 85, of Gibson Highway died Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Warrenton Health & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Warrenton. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Sallie Hill Cemetery. Mr. Holliman, a native and lifelong resident of Warren County was the son of the late Marion Neal and Mary Elizabeth Fulghum Holliman. He was a 1941 graduate of Warren County High School and attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega before transferring to the University of Georgia in Athens where he graduated with a B.S. in dairy science. He later received his Masters in Education from UGA. During WW II, he served his country as a Sergeant in the 28th infantry division which took part in the Battle of the Bulge. After returning he taught veterans farming practices in Warren County. He was elected County School Superintendent in Warren County in 1956 and served in that office for 25 years before retiring. Active in the community, Mr. Holliman served on many committees for special events in Warrenton and Warren County. He was a active member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon Sunday School teacher and choir director. He was a faithful member of the Warrenton Kiwanis Club, American Legion post 96 and VFW post 5604 and served as an officer in these organizations. Survivors include his brother, Marion Lewellyn Holliman, two nieces, Kathy Belyeu Adameit, and Lucy Holliman Byers, one nephew, Altai Neal Belyeu, and a cousin, Linda Fulghum Bruggeman and many beloved friends and extended family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holliman was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Holliman Belyeu and a nephew John Bunyan Holliman. Pallbearers will be Deacons of Warren First Baptist Church. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Warren Kiwanis Club and the Adult Men's Sunday School Class.
