AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Thomas K. Rice, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at The Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be at Westover Memorial Park. Mr. Rice was born in Iva, SC and lived most of his life in Augusta. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines as a navigator during World War II. He retired from Life of Virginia after 41 years. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Margaret Poole Rice, 3 daughters and their husbands, Jenny & Don Webster of Milledgeville, GA, Donna & Chris Edenfield of Martinez, GA and Brenda & Mike Miller of Marietta, GA; 6 grandchildren and their spouses- Cara (Jason) Haswell of Chula, GA, Jonathan Brown of Acworth, GA, Clinton (Katherine) Webster of Madison, GA, Allison (Joe) Renew of Grovetown, GA, Chase Miller and Kurt Miller both of Marietta, GA; 1 great-grandchild, Eli Thomas Haswell; a brother, Marion F. (Betty) Rice of Carrolton, GA; and 6 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Poole Jellison, Clara Poole Preston, Elizabeth Poole Carr, Allene Poole Brown, Vivian Rice and Ann Rice. He also leaves many other family members and cherished friends. He is predeceased by 3 brothers, Robert Leo Rice, John W. Rice and Irvin F. Rice and 2 sisters-in-law, Florine Poole Moses and Lillian Poole Arnold. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
