EDGEFIELD, S.C. - Mr. James Patten, 82, of Glover Street, entered into rest October 19, 2010. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Freedom Temple United Church of God with Evangelist Mattie Cheatham officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park. Mr. Patten, a native of Edgefield County was a member of Freedom Temple United Church of Cod where he served as chairman of deacon's ministry and choir ministry. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lucy Patten; a son, Jerome Patten; five daughters, Mary L. Carr, Mattie P. (Thomas) Cheatham, Sharon P. (Victor) Washington, Vanessa L. Patten and Pricilla Patten; three brothers, George D. (Willie Mae) Patten, David (Betty) Patten and John Richard (Venoris) Patten; four sisters, Dorothy (Clarence) Rearden, Robertha P. Price, Pearl P. (Phillip) Jackson and Mazelle P. (George) Smith; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
