AUGUSTA, Ga. Ñ Mrs. Georgia Kelsey, 85, entered into rest Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at Trinity Hospital. Graveside services will be held (today) Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 120 Watkins Street, Augusta, GA 30901 with Reverend Larry Fryer officiating. Georgia Collier Kelsey, the younger daughter of George and Katie Collier, graduated from Haines Institute in 1941. After graduation from Haines, she attended Paine College for two years before she began working at Pilgrim Health and Life Insurance Company as an audit clerk. She retired from Pilgrim with over forty years of service. A lover of local and family history, she was the person in the family who knew everyone's name, birthday, whereabouts, and family connection. Throughout Georgia's life, she had a special love for children, and they knew it. Obviously, she took great joy and pride in her own daughter, Edith, the center of her life. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Dr. Edith Kelsey; her godson, Charles L. Butler, Jr.; her cousins, Mrs. Georgene (Nicholas) Ayungo, Dr. Lillie B. Johnson, Miss Xavier Johnson, Mr. Nicholas Stam Ayungo,and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Steven; a faithful neighbor and caregiver, Mrs. Willie Eva Jackson; and a host of other cousins and friends.
