AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Jean Katherine Collins, 85, wife of John J. Collins, of Ridge Rd., entered into rest, Monday, October 18, 2010, at Stevens Park Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, October 20, at 2:00 p.m., from the Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with Father Michael Lubinsky officiating. Family and friends are requested to assemble at the Mausoleum. Mrs. Collins, daughter of the late Raymond J. and Katherine Halder Bibinger, was born in Wassau, WI, on December 18, 1924. During World War II, Mrs. Collins moved to Neenah, WI where she met her husband, John. They were married on June 28, 1947. After 20 years of traveling with her military husband, they retired in Augusta, GA. She became a school crossing guard for Richmond County where she served for 20 years. She was also President of the Guards. She was an avid Braves fan. Her favorite hobby was bowling and coaching for the junior league on Saturdays. She was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. In addition to her husband, John Joseph Collins, she is survived by sister, Peggy Lockery of Neenah, WI; daughters and sons in law, Peggy and Mike Dineen, North Augusta, SC, Chris and Frank Wills, also of North Augusta, SC, and Maureen and Wesley Broome, of Martinez; son and daughter in law, John and Doris Collins, of Martinez; grandchildren, Laurel, Stephanie, Tony, Brian, Paul, Bonnie, Michael, Sara, and Alex; great grandchildren, Jacob, Stephen, John-Alec, Victoria, Scott, John-Robert, Abigail, and Jackson. Pallbearers will be Tony Wills, Brian Wills, Paul Broome, Michael Broome, Alex Collins, Jacob Nelson, Scott Wills, and Stephen Nelson. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, October 19, from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
