WADLEY, Ga. - Mrs. Susie J. "Nita" Lamb, age 83, of Wadley, died Sunday, October 10, 2010, at the University Hospital in Augusta, Ga. Mrs. Lamb was a native and lifelong resident of Jefferson County. Susie graduated from Bartow High School. She was a wonderful and devoted homemaker to her family, her friends and her community. Susie loved St. John's United Methodist Church where she was a member and where she held many positions. She was also the Church "Mother". She was an avid supporter of her children's athletic endeavors and 5 K racing. Susie loved the mountains and she watched the Atlanta Braves all the time, including the "win" against San Francisco. Above all, she loved her God. Her wonderful life with husband, Jack of 64 years ended in this life in a peaceful setting on the 6th floor west, University Hospital. Thank You Heather and the wonderful people with you. She was preceded in death by her parents: Thomas and Anna Leigh Johnson, all of her siblings and a Grandson, Matt Ackron. Memorials may be made to the St. John's United Methodist Church Building Fund, in care of Jessie Williams, Wadley, Ga. 30477, or the Mission, "Unto the Least of His", 109 Bear Camp Lake Rd., Irwinton, Ga. 31042, in memory of Mrs. Susie J. "Nita" Lamb. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church, with Reverends Ray Garren, Pat Holbert, Kenneth Watkins, and Eugene Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery, Wadley, Ga. Survivors include: Husband: Jack Lamb of Wadley; Children: Jackie L. Watkins (Kenneth) of Wadley, Thomas L. Lamb of Marietta, Ga., Ronnie E. Lamb (Angie) of Wadley, Davey R. Lamb (Donna) of Wadley, Barbara L. Ackron (Pete) of Jesup, Ga.; Granddaughters: Kim Watkins of Louisville, Ga., Kelli Watkins of Macon, Ga., Kristy Langdon (Donald) of Bartow, Ga., Kathy Reynolds (William) of Warthen, and Cassi Ackron of Jesup, Ga.; Great Grandchildren: Kaitlyn Reynolds of Warthen, and Reuben Langdon of Ca., Ellis Duke. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Smith Funeral Home, of Wadley, in charge of arrangements.
