Ray Sapp (HEPHZIBAH, Ga.)


HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Mr. Ray Sapp, of Hephzibah, went to be with the Lord, on Sunday, October 10, 2010. He was 77 years old. The family will receive friends today, Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta. The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. The committal services will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors. Rev. Jim Johnson and Rev. Marion Jay will officiate. Mr. Sapp is survived by his children, Deborah Stephens, of Augusta, Ray Sapp Jr., of California, Clyo Ray Sapp, of Augusta, and Lesa D. James, and her husband, Merle, of Augusta; his best buddy, Franklin Whitaker Jr. (Boo-Boo); his dog, Keta "Best Friend for Life"; his brother, Dick Sapp, and his wife Sue, of Augusta; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Mr. Sapp was preceded in death by, Roxie June Whitaker; his parents, Clyo and Tressie Sapp; his brother, Junior Sapp; and his sister, Susie Mae Harper. Mr. Sapp was a veteran of the United States Army with twenty years of service. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Gracewood State School and Hospital.
