Marvin Richard (LINCOLNTON, Ga.)

LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mr. Marvin Richard, 86, entered into rest on Monday, October 4, 2010 at Uni Health Post Acute Care of North Augusta, S.C. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Lincolnton Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Rosser and Rev. Dale Stinson officiating. Interment will follow at the Lincolnton City Cemetery with military honors. Serving as pallbearers will be Jody Gibson, Mark Augustynowicz, Jathan Richard, Joshua Richard, James Richard, John Stanley, Tommy Dawkins and Hillyer Wright. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post #194. Mr. Richard was the son of the late Miles Dillard Richard and the late Vaughtie Herren Richard of McCaysville, GA. He was owner and operator of Richard's Cleaners in McCormick, S.C. for 45 years, a member of Lincolnton Baptist Church, the Republican Party and the American Legion Post #194. Mr. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served during World War II with the 3rd Calvary. He was wounded in France and later was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Marvin showed his love for children of all ages, as he gave them a big smile along with Big Red and Wrigley's Spearmint chewing gum. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Miriam Wright Richard; three sons, Marty Richard of Milledgeville, GA., George Richard of Martinez, GA. and Greg Richard and wife, Ellen of Franklin, TN.; one sister, Rena Mae Fisher of Epworth, GA., two brothers, Jack Richard of Wyandotte, MI. and Howard Richard of Port Orange, FL.; sister-in- law, Lelia Kelley of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren, Kelly Knock, Mark Augustynowicz, Melania Goodman, Amie Stinson, Georgianna Wall, Jathan Richard, Joshua Richard and James Richard; and fifteen great grandchildren. Mr. Richard was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Stanley; and two brothers, Everett Richard and J.R. Richard. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Lincolnton Baptist Church, P.O.
