Edward Lee Handy (EVANS, Ga.)

EVANS, Ga. - Mr. Edward Lee Handy, 58, of Sapelo Dr., departed this life on September 28, 2010. Edward was born August 7, 1952 in Lake Charles, Louisiana where he was a 1970 graduate of W.O. Boston High School. He attended Zavier University in New Orleans and graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Electrical Engineering. At the time of his demise Edward was employed with Augusta Newsprint Company in Augusta, Georgia. In his leisure time Edward enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Regina Wilson Handy; his father, Truman Handy; his grandparents, Gaston and Carrie Savoy. Edward is survived by his daughter, Ashley Alexandria Handy of Augusta, Georgia; his son, LaTron Marquis Wilson of Dallas, Texas; his mother Leona Handy of Lake Charles; sisters, Diana Hudson and Linda (Holland) Guillory of Lake Charles, Veronica Handy of San Diego. California; brothers, John and Joseph Handy of Lake Charles, Freeman (Mary) Handy of San Diego, James Handy of Houston, Texas, Jarel (Sharion) Handy of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Charles Handy of Fairfield, California; three sister-in-laws; two brother-in-laws; and a host of nieces and nephews. A rosary will be recited at 9:30am with funeral services to follow at 10:00am on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 2031 Opelousas Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana.
