Gleman McGahee (AVERA, Ga.)

AVERA, Ga. - Gleman McGahee, 81, husband of Malene Padgett- McGahee and the late Jessie Hadden McGahee, entered into rest Friday evening, September 10, 2010 at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Donald Lumpkin and Ray Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Avera GA. Born to the late Anna Belle Sheppard McGahee and the late Dewey Joe McGahee, Gleman lived in Jefferson County and moved to Florida to work with Mac's Power Gas Company delivering propane gas. After several years, he bought the company which, under his management, became the best propane company in The Glades. After his retirement, he moved back "home" to Jefferson County. His favorite pastime was fishing. Gleman was a great father and faithful friend who exemplified honesty and integrity. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Mr. McGahee is also survived by his only son, Robert "Mickey" McGahee (Brenda); a brother, Farris "Sack" McGahee; three grandchildren, Rose McGahee, Amy McGahee, and Megan Jessie McGahee; one great grandson, Robert Zachary Morris; three step- sons, Johnnie Padgett (Sherry), Wayne Padgett (Marsha), and Charles Padgett (Sue); several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Pallbearers will be Johnnie Padgett, Charles Padgett, Donnie Jones, Ronnie Jones, Mark Thigpen, and Lucius Thigpen. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Padgett, Troy Hadden, Harley Hollingsworth and Roy Coxwell. The family will receive friends this evening, Monday, September 13, 2010 from 6:00-8:00PM at James Funeral Home. James Funeral Home - Wrens, GA
