BLOOMINGDALE, Ga. - John T. 'Jake' Cox, Sr., 83, of Bloomingdale died Wednesday. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Saturday, September 11, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla. Interment will follow in Pinetta Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Ocilla. Mr. Cox was born April 3, 1927 in Irwin County, Georgia to the late Jack and Pearl Taylor Cox. Mr. Cox was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Military Police, serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He worked in law enforcement for 20 years on the University Hospital Police Department in Augusta. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife: Marion H. Cox; daughter: Brenda J. Cox, both of Bloomingdale; son: John T. (Esta) Cox, Jr. of Augusta; 4 grandchildren; brothers: Henry (Hazel) Cox of Deming, NM, Herman Cox of Tifton, and Cecil (Nora) Cox of Fitzgerald; and sisters: Cora Bracewell, Dora (James) Coburn, Clara (Lamar) Pate, and Vernell Roberts, all of Tifton.
