HOUSTON, Texas - William Leon Edwards (67) was born to the late John and Sadie (Williams) Edwards. He was affectionately known as "Eddie". After graduating from high school, William joined the Marine Corp. He also took great pride in being part of the Color Guard and the Drill team. After being honorably discharged from the Marines in 1969, William moved to New York where he developed a fondness for urban living. He worked as a printer for The United Hebrew Foundation. He later met and married his next door neighbor Denise Bolling Together they moved to Poughkeepsie, New York where they raised their three children. He was employed at Hudson River Psychiatric Center as a Psychiatric Therapist. Upon moving to Houston he became employed with the Harris County Psychiatric Center and after 22 years of service he retired. William joined New Light Christian Center in 1992 under the spiritual guidance of Bishop I.V. and Lady Bridget Hilliard. William had a great love for his God, his pastor, first lady, and his church family. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Denise, three children: Sharon, (Jeffery), Nicole and Shaun (Leonie); Eleven Grandchildren: Cortney, Tonius, Josuha, Shaun Jr., Destiny, William II, Victoria, Kiyah, Brandon, Aden and Esiais; seven siblings: Mallie, Mary, James, John, Robbie, Chester and Ernestine; one brother-in-law, Robert; and two sister-in-laws, Diann and Nancy. Visitation (Saturday) September 4, 2010 from 10-10:55 a.m. with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00 a.m., both services will be held at New Light Christian Center Church, 1535 Greensmark in Houston, Texas with Bishop I.V. Hilliard, Pastor/Teacher, officiating. Interment (Monday) September 6, 2010 at Houston National Cemetery. Final Arrangements Entrusted To; Troy B.
