NEWPORT, Tenn. - Mrs. Barbara Clayton Barnes, 75 beloved wife of Mr. James W. Barnes entered into rest on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Platt's Crawford Avenue Chapel with Rev. Billy Atkins officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Barnes was a long time resident of Augusta and was a member of Fleming Baptist Church. Additional survivors include her son, Darryl Barnes (Janice) of Evans, GA; her two daughters Diane McGlothlin (Johnny) of Newport, TN and Vicki Bragg (Billy) of Augusta; her brother, Charles A. Clayton (Helen) of Belvedere, SC; her sister, Joyce Clayton Shields (Bill) of Grovetown; and her seven grandchildren, Amanda Clark (Jeremy), Megan Myers, Kasey Bragg, Christian Bragg, Chad Bragg, Anna Barnes, and James Barnes. Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Holland. Pallbearers will be Bill Shields, David Shields, Billy Bragg, Johnny McGlothlin, Ray Myers, and Tim Montgomery. If so desired memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, August 3, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
