Alex Gilmore Summerlin (SANDERSVILLE, Ga.)


SANDERSVILLE, Ga. - Mr. Alex Gilmore Summerlin, 'Cuz', age 80, of Sandersville died on Wednesday August 25 in the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 28, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery. The Rev. Darell Young will officiate. Mr. Summerlin was a native and life long resident of Washington County, the son of the late Newsome and Olive Summerlin. Mr. Summerlin was a former employee of American Industrial Clay Company and Sheram Construction Company. He was a former manager of EJ's Convenience Store and was a receptionist for Dorman Dodge in Sandersville. 'Cuz' was a true caring citizen of Washington County and a friend to many. Survivors are his wife, Jane S. Summerlin of Sandersville, his children, Steve Black of Davisboro, Darlene (Michael) Lord and Troy (Sherri) Black both of Tennille, Marnell (Tom) Lax of Lawrenceville, Dean (Barry) Brown and Sally (Wayne) Best both of Savannah, seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren, a brother, Carter (Toby) Summerlin of Atlanta, a cousin, Levi Hill of Augusta, a sister-in-law, Bessie Summerlin of Sandersville. The family will receive friends at their residence on Friday.
