AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. William "Dee" DeRemer, also known as "Papa" to his grand kids, went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2010, at his home. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Mary DeRemer, daughter, Kim DeRemer, grand kids, William and Amber Daugherty, and closer than a brother friend, Gene Garland. Dee served his country for 24 years, serving in Korea and three tours in Viet Nam. He retired in Augusta in 1979 and was a Security Officer at University Hospital, before transferring out to Ft. Gordon. He worked Civil Service as an Instructor at the US Army Signal School at Ft. Gordon. A few years before retiring, he worked at the Child Development Center. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cheering for the Atlanta Braves and was a lifetime member of the MLB Insider Club, He was an avid reader. He played on many church and industrial league softball teams earning the title "Best Pitcher in CSRA". In later years he coached T-ball and Little League at Ft. Gordon.
