SYLVANIA, Ga. - Mr. Robert Lamar Saxon, 81, of Sylvania passed Monday evening at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. Born to the late Henry Edward and Edna Chance Saxon in Jenkins County, Lamar moved to Screven County at an early age. He was educated at the Jenkins County Schools and joined the US Army and served in the Korean War. He was employed with the Derst Baking Company for over 25 years and was a member of the Woodmen of the World. He also attended and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sylvania and the Raiford Parker Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles E. Saxon. Survivors include wife of 54 years, Betty Bazemore Saxon, of Sylvania; sisters, Christine Lamb, of Savannah and Elma Sue Donaldson, of Mineral Bluff, GA; brothers, Marvin Saxon and Harvey Saxon, both of Savannah and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at the Joiner Anderson Funeral Home Screven Chapel. Funeral services will be held May 27, 2010 at 11:00am in the Screven Chapel of Joiner Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Charlie Cooper officiating and musical selections by Roslyn Matheson and David Wilson. Burial will follow at the Screven Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Jeff Saxon, Scott Saxon, Ivey Simmons, Ryan Saxon, Jackie Collier, and Don Bazemore. Honorary Pallbearers will be Edward Brinson, Buford Sparks, Leonard Mock, and the Walls Coffee Club. Memorial Contributions may be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O.
