AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mildred Lorick Sibley, went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at her residence. She was born June 14, 1913 to Herbert Calhoun Lorick and Ethel Paysinger Lorick. She was a life-long resident of Augusta and very active in her community. She graduated from Tubman High School for Girls and Ward-Belmont College in Nashville, TN. She received a scholarship from Julliard School of Music for Piano. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, where she taught Sunday school in her earlier years. She was past president of the Summerville Garden Club and the Cross Country Riding Club, a member of the Wednesday Sewing Club, the Augusta Country Club and the Junior League of Augusta. She was very talented, an avid bridge player, loved gardening and flower arranging and won numerous awards for her creative food and flower centerpieces. She loved her family, Fripp Island and her beloved dogs. She had a strong faith, was fun-loving, full of life with an incredible sense of humor and wit, a one-of-a kind, "Our Nana". She was pre-deceased by her husband, Jesse MacRae Howard, Jr. and their two sons, Herbert Lorick Howard and Jesse MacRae Howard, III. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Howard Sheehan, son-in-law, Joseph Lonergan Sheehan, Jr., and her daughter-in-law Joan Davis Howard, grandchildren, Donald M. Peel, Jr. (Nancye), Courtney Howard Saul (Travis), Herbert Lorick "Rick" Howard, Jr.(Mary), Lorick Peel "Lori" Brittingham (Brian) and Kathleen Sancken Mele, great grandchildren, Sanken O'Farrell Hatch, Hadden MacRae Peel, Herbert Lorick Howard, III, Mary Lorick Brittingham, Albert Benjamin Howard, Charles Howard Peel, and Joseph Harper Brittingham, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be officiated by the Rev. David B. Hunter on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, burial at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Arthur Dunn, Sr., David Arthur Dunn, Jr., Herbert Lorick Howard, Jr., Herbert Calhoun Lorick, III, William Barlass Lorick and Michael Travis Saul. The family would like to thank the staff at Brandon Wilde and her special caregivers, Diane Berry, Monica Freeman, Frances Garnett, Lena King and Cassandra Sullivan for all their loving care.
