HARLEM, GA - Mr. Joe Murray Wheeler, Jr., 73, entered into rest Friday, April 16, 2010 at University Hospital. Services will be held at 11:00a.m., Monday, April 19, 2010 at Bethesda Baptist Church with the Reverends Boyd Reeves and Randall Whitaker officiating. Interment will be in the Harlem Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Wheeler was born in Aiken, SC, but lived most of his life in Harlem. He attended Bethesda Baptist Church and was a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. Mr. Wheeler was a master plumber and master electrician with an old fashioned work ethic. He believed in only doing a quality job. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Doris E. Wheeler; one son, Tim (Joy) Wheeler, Augusta; one daughter, Patty W. Wheeler, Harlem; three grandchildren, Will Wheeler, Katie Johnson and Caleb Johnson; sister, Lucille Burroughs; brother-in-law, Waymon(Lynette) Johnson; sister-in-law, Mary (Stewart) Cartledge; niece, Brenda (Charles) Sanford and nephew, Doug Burroughs. Pallbearers will be Alan Hall, Miller Finley, Raymond Fulcher, Mickey Lonergan, Mack Price and Jim Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bethesda Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Golden Harvest Food Bank, 3310 Commerce Drive, Augusta, GA 30909.
