AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Robert George Dickens, of Augusta, died on Wednesday, March 17, 2010. He was 86 years old. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 22, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta. A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at West View Cemetery. Mr. Dickens was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Mrs. Mary Lewis Dickens, in 2000. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ann Dickens. Mr. Dickens is survived by his son, John Dale Dickens and his wife, Beatrice, of Missouri; his grandchildren, Robert Wayne Dickens and his wife, Candace, of Florida, Denice Rhoads and her husband, Craig, of Missouri, Robin Bengtson and her husband, Ben, of Marietta, Georgia, Mandy Rhodes and her husband, John, of Martinez, Paula Renee Dickens of Missouri, and Ashley Carter of Martinez; his great-grandchildren, Bailey Matthew Dickens, Amberly Nicole Dickens, Austin Luke Morris, Joshua Mitchell Morris, Alexa Ann Morris, Lilly Ann Rhoads, John Michael Cawfield, Yvette Melodie Ann Girardi, Madison Ann Rhodes, and soon to be born great-granddaughter, Ava Lynn Rhoads. Mr. Dickens was a veteran of the United States Army. He served during WW II. He was of the Catholic faith.
