LEXINGTON, S.C. - Gilbert-Services for John Bruce "Jake" Holloway, Sr., will be conducted at 1:30 pm Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dick Albert officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 pm Sunday at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church 246 St. Paul's Church Road Gilbert, SC 29054 or Republican United Methodist Church 865 Chamberlains Ferry Road McCormick, SC 29835. Mr. Holloway died Friday March 19, 2010. Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late Bruce and Eula Mae Spires Holloway. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, was a US Navy Veteran of WW II, serving with the 22.3 Task Force that captured the German U Boat U505, and retired from the SC State Parks, Recreation and Tourism as Superintendent of Givhans Ferry State Park. Surviving are his wife, Katy Sease Holloway, sons, John B. Holloway, Jr., (Martha) of Mt. Pleasant and David Perry Holloway, (Chris) of Evans, GA, a brother, Donald Holloway of McCormick, sisters, Margie Candler of Augusta, GA, Jean Lagroon of McCormick and Shirley Baker of Greenwood, grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Andy, Amanda, Anna and Will.
