BELVEDERE, S.C. - SFC. Hollis Edward 'Ed' Hooper, 75, United States Army Retired, beloved husband of the late Mary Lee Hooper and son of the late George Edward and Sally Feazell Hooper, entered into rest Tuesday, March 16th, 2010. Born in Dekalb, TX, he had been a resident of the C.S.R.A. since 1967. He retired from the United States Army after twenty years of dedicated service with the rank of Sergeant First Class. SFC Hopper did two tours of duty in Korea and one tour in Vietnam. After his retirement from the Army, he owned and operated Ed's Towing and Ed's Spur Service Station. He had most recently worked with his son at Mike's Automotive. Prior to his health declining, he enjoyed staying up on current events watching CNN, going to the mountains and most importantly spending time with his family. SFC Hooper is survived by his children, Kathy Lee Hooper Raymond, (Larry) Murrieta, CA, William Edward 'Eddie' Hooper, (Susan) Williston, SC, James Michael 'Mike' Hooper, (Jeri) North Augusta, SC and Steven Tracy Hooper, (Nancy Chance) Warrenville, SC and seven grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 27th, 2010, at 2 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Pastor Robert Mitchum officiating. Interment with full military honors accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC. The family has asked that if so desired memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
