DEARING, Ga. - Charles 'Charlie' Anderson, 76 of Dearing, Georgia, beloved husband of over 50 years to Joyce D. Anderson passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at University Hospital, Augusta, GA. Charlie was born in Carmel, NY and was a resident of New York for most of his life. He is predeceased by his parents, Helen and Karl Ivar Anderson. He moved to Georgia to be closer to his children in 2007. Charlie resided and raised his children in Holmes, New York for 25 years, later moving and becoming the proprietor of Lakeside Mobile Estates in Northville, NY. He lived there for 21 years prior to selling his business and moving to Georgia. While living in Georgia he helped operated The Coffee Pot with his daughter, Joyceann Nielsen. He enjoyed meeting many of the customers and he especially enjoyed cutting up with people of all ages. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting with his sons, Tim and Karl as well as fishing and camping. Charlie loved building and always had a project in the works with the help of his sons, especially Lee, the family carpenter. Charlie was a Boy Scout Leader for many years with a troop in Poughquac, NY. He was known for his humor, his overwhelming kindness and was always willing to lend a helping hand. In Charlie's later years as he developed cardiac problems, he became a recipient of ten endograph that was placed in his chest to bypass an aneurism. He was, as his doctor stated, a brave person to be part of the experimental research that would help all future cardiac patients. Charlie is survived by his cherished wife and best friend, Joyce; his children, Joyceann Nielson(Pat), Timothy Anderson (Ann), Karl Anderson, Lee Odell (Brenda), Gail Sheridan (Bill), Gay Ackerman (Les), Pamela Oliveri (Frank), Brian Odell, Patricia Ackerly, Charlene Anderson, Chuck Anderson(Sharon) and Gary Anderson; his sister, Florence Flood (George) of Worchester, Massachusetts . He was preceded in death by his brother Ivar Anderson (Joan) of Culomee, NC. The grandchildren that live locally are, Adam Patrick Nielsen (Alicia), Trisha Hamilton (Mario), Stephany Griffin (Jay), Shannon Nielsen, Dustin Keier (Michele), Michael Keier, Heather Keier and Jolene Odell. There are many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren that each held a special place in his heart. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Starling Funeral Home, Harlem, GA. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
